Sera Lab introduces Splitkits, an improved reagent to dissociate adherent cells.

14/12/2009

AntibodyBcn presents the first cell dissociation systems specifically designed for use in both serum-based and serum-free cell cultures.

SplitKits is a vegetable based enzymatic reagent. Containing no animal or bacterial derived proteins, which makes it suitable for a wide variety of cell culture systems without risk of contamination. The gentle action of the Splitkit ensures that surface epitopes and cell membranes remain unaltered and fully functional making these kits ideal for use in flow cytometry.

Three types of Splitkits have been develeloped, each specific to a certain cell type.

- For use with cells in bioreactors, cells cultivated on
micro-carrier beads or to dissociate strongly
adherent cells like LLC-PK1, MDCK, MDBK

- For use with moderately adherent cells such as
VERO, Caco2, human bone marrow mesenchymal
stem cells

- For use with mildly adherent cells such as MRC5,
BHK 21, Balb/c 3T3 or CHO

Tests have shown that Splitkits detaches cells faster than trypsin. It has also been found that the action of Splitkits was much gentler thereby giving higher cell counts and greater recovery in terms of cell growth following detachment.

Sera Lab offers free test kits, containing 30 ml of each of the three Splitkits products, so you can test which SplitKits works best for your cell culture system.
